Overview

The Planarform Wrinkle represents the continuing evolution in architectural acoustics toward quantifiable, non-traditional shapes. It is designed to blend the direct and reflected sound to increase intelligibility and/or enhance musical clarity and intimacy in performance spaces such as auditoria, band rooms and choral rooms. The asymmetric Planarform Wrinkle can be array optimized to reduce periodicity effects.

Finish

The Planarform Wrinkle units are typically provided with a paint ready surface for onsite application, however units can be factory color matched to any paint color specification.

Installation

The units are designed to hang freely, each unit a separate “cloud”, or bolted together to create a canopy. They can also be direct mounted to a wall or ceiling.

Interfering reflections can be controlled by applying diffusion or absorption. In a small room, it is critical to control some of the interfering first reflections with a sound diffuser to provide a balanced, ambient sound field.  When the room’s surfaces are relatively close to the listener, a very efficient sound diffuser is required. To solve this problem, RPG created the Planarform Wrinkle. Utilizing a truly unique geormetric shape, the Planarform Wrinkle can be oriented in a number of different positions, when hung in an array, to minimize periodicity in order to prevent lobing.

 

 

 

Problem
