The Modex Plates are dedicated, broadband, low frequency sound absorbers designed to balance the modal distribution of small rooms such as studio control rooms and home theaters. The damped plate mechanism is able to offer bass control over several octaves while not contributing to mid or high frequency absorption.
Select from industry standard and custom fabrics, fabrics with proof of performance acoustical data preferred.
Modex Plate can be easily and quickly hung on any wall or ceiling surface using the provided mounting brackets. See details below under the Drawings tab.

Recording studios, performance spaces and dedicated listening rooms often exhibit poor low frequency response with significant emphasis at modal resonances. This is especially true when they are sonically well isolated, due to massive boundary construction. Porous surface absorption is ineffective at these modal frequencies, because the air motion near walls and in corners is essentially zero, resulting in very low absorption efficiency. RPG developed its Modex line to address these problems. The Modex Plate offers broadband low frequency absorption effective from 30 – 300 Hz in a thickness of 6 inches. Choose from the growing array of acoustical fabrics available, the units can be mounted on walls or ceilings.
Small rooms like Recording Studios and Dedicated Listening Rooms often suffer from low frequency modal problems. Absorption at these frequencies requires a high absorption efficiency, significant surface depth and large coverage area, often not available in small rooms.
The Modex Plate solves these problems by offering significant absorption between 30 and 300 Hz in a surface depth of only 6 inches. The Modex Plate represents a new generation of acoustic bass management.
